Ionel Averian




Ionel Averian (born 2 October 1976 in Hârşova ,
Constanţa ) is a Romanian Flatwater Canoer who was twice world champion.

In his brief but highly successful international career Averian won no fewer than twenty major medals between 1998-2002. These included eight world championship medals as a member of Romania's four-man Canadian Canoe (C4) team. He also won two world championship medals in the C2 200m sprint with partner Mihail Vartolomei .

He also won a total of ten European championship medals, the highlight being the C2 200m gold medal (again with Vartolomei) in Milan in 2001.
