Ione Skye Leitch (born September 4 , 1971 in Hertfordshire , England ) is an Actress . She is the daughter of Scottish singer Donovan and Jewish American Model Enid Karl. Her most well-known performance was in the 1989 film '' Say Anything ''. She made her film debut in '' River's Edge '' in 1986, and played the title character in '' The Rachel Papers '' (1989). In 1992, she played the role of Elanore Grey on the short-lived TV show '' Covington Cross ''. More recently, she appeared as Mrs. Veal in an episode of the TV show '' Arrested Development ''. She was in a relationship with Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis . Her first husband, Adam Horovitz , is a member of the The Beastie Boys . She married her second husband, David Netto, in March 2001. They have a daughter, Kate Netto, but were Divorce d in 2004.
