As Of 2004 , three out of four American s have Internet access in the United States, with more than 50% of these being Broadband connections. The following statistics are based on a March 18 , 2004 press release from Nielsen//NetRatings , a company owned by the same parent company responsible for the Nielsen Ratings . STATISTICS 74.9% of Americans living in households with a Fixed Line Phone have home access to the Internet . This amounts to 204.307 million Americans out of the projected 272.81 million who are at least two years old. This is up from 66% a year earlier. Access by age group:
