IANV-GEM

The numerical procedures (' Gematria ') used in Greek , in Hebrew and in Islamic mysticism, for associating numbers with the letters of the Greek, Hebrew and Arabic alphabets were identical. The same logical scheme was used in each case. The values from 1 to 9 were assigned to the first 9 letters; then the values from 10 to 90 in steps of 10 were assigned to the next 9 letters; and finally the values from 100 to 1000 in steps of 100 were assigned to the remaining letters.
