The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is the UK Government regulatory office dealing with the Data Protection Act 1998 , the Freedom Of Information Act 2000 , the Privacy And Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 . The Information Commissioner is an independent official appointed by The Crown , and reports annually to Parliament . The Commissioner’s decisions are subject to the supervision of the Courts and the Information Tribunal .
