ORIGIN AND ETYMOLOGY The term ''husband'' refers to Middle English ''huseband'', from Old English ''hsbnda'', from Old Norse ''hsbndi'' (hs, house + bndi, bandi, present participle of ba, to dwell, so etymologically, a householder, ).
