Glacier Peak High School is a new high school being built in the south end of the Snohomish School District. This school is long overdue and will relieve overcrowding at Snohomish High School. It will be a 230,000 square foot facility designed by Northwest Architecture and built by Lydig Construction. In the fall of 2008 it will be opening with grades 9-11. Its name was decided by a naming committee from names submitted by community members. The site has a view of Glacier Peak in eastern Snohomish County. The official mascot is the Grizzlies, and colors are Navy Blue and White with silver as its accent color. The mascot and colors were voted on by students from the Snohomish Freshman Campus and Valley View Middle School. The class of 2010 will be the first Junior and Senior class to accommodate the newly established high school. The graduating class of 2009 will remain at Snohomish High School on request of the student body. This school is a chance to start new traditions rich in the characteristics of Snohomish County. Glacier Peak will belong to WESCO North division in Sports. The football team will have to play at Snohomish. |
