GENERAL GIGA is a brand name for several 1998 . The show NBC GIGA was shown first time on the television channel NBC Europe . The show lasted five hours, from 3 pm until 8 pm. In 2004 the show was renamed from NBC GIGA to GIGA Green. In September 2005 the original show was renamed a second time, now to the simple name GIGA, which caused some confusion because the television channel on which it was broadcasted was also named GIGA. The show had been shortened from five hours to three hours, Monday through Friday, and was now being broadcasted on the television channel GIGA as well as on the television channel Das Vierte (English: The Fourth). Then in March 2006, the show GIGA - the original NBC GIGA - was cancelled. The GIGA Community was very depressed that the original show had been cancelled while other shows, which were isolated from the original television show in the years after NBC GIGA started, were now running on their own television channel instead. The most popular shows which were still running were GIGA Games, GIGA ESports and PLAY. GIGA 1 is broadcasted via the European Satellite system SES Astra . This insures that this television station can be seen all over Europe - which is, of course, mostly relevant for German-speaking countries like Austria , Switzerland , Germany and Liechtenstein . Since March 2006 the old NBC GIGA was cancelled, while all shows about gaming, GIGA Games and GIGA eSports, remain as a subsidiary of Turtle Entertainment , which is also owner of the ESL .
