"Ghost in the Machine" was the seventh episode of the first season of '' The X-Files '' Science-fiction Television Series created by Chris Carter . It dealt with the idea of Artificial Intelligence .


PLOT


A Computer with highly advanced Artificial Intelligence begins to kill in order to preserve its existence when it is deemed inefficient to continue controlling the workings of an office building.

  • The episode's title is derived from the title of the book '' The Ghost In The Machine '' by Arthur Koestler , which also inspired the franchise and Cyber-punk Anime series '' Ghost In The Shell ''.

  • The “Central Operating System” and its actions in the episode is an ''''’s malevolent cyberintelligence HAL 9000 .

  • Agent Jerry Lamana during his free-falling elevator scene seems to be pinned to the ground, while actual physical science teach us that a material point in a free-falling box should not be affected by any resultant force. Hence Agent Lamana should have been flying in midair instead of being pinned to the ground.
