''Germany's Next Topmodel'' is a German Reality Television show which pits Contestants against each other in a variety of competitions to determine who will win a Modelling Contract with IMG . Supermodel Heidi Klum hosts the show, which is based on the top-rating series '' America's Next Top Model '' created and co-produced by Supermodel Tyra Banks . FORMAT Each week, contestants were evaluated on their performance and faced possible elimination through a panel of judges. However, Germany has their own format of the show. Differences between ANTM and GNTM CYCLES First Cycle The debut season of the show premiered on the Pro Sieben network on January 25 , 2006 . The first episode documented the selection of the twelve final contestants, who were later placed in a Düsseldorf apartment for the duration of the competition. Spanning a wide variety of women of various races, heights and body sizes. The twelve contestants had been whittled down from a pool of thousands to compete against one another in various contests designed to simulate the extreme demands placed on professional models. The jury consisted of Klum herself, hair and make-up artist Armin Morbach , Choreographer and Runway coach Bruce Darnell and model agent Peyman Amin . Guest judges included male supermodel Marcus Schenkenberg , designer Jette Joop , actor Erol Sander and body painter Joanne Gair . The winner Lena Gercke got the contract with IMG and was on the cover of the German '' Cosmopolitan ''. The other two finalists also received a contract with IMG . Second Cycle The second season actually started March 1 , 2007 . The winner Barbara Meier got the contract with IMG and was on the cover of the German '' Cosmopolitan ''. In the second cycle the jury consists once again of Heidi Klum, Bruce Darnell and Peyman Amin, while judge Armin Morbach was replaced by make-up and hair-stylist Boris Entrup.
