I6 The I6s are all DOHC engines with VCT . They are a development of the SOHC I6s produced between 1988-2002, which in turn are a development of the Straight 6 , commonly known in Australia as a "250 Crossflow". Common specifications to all I6s Bore: 92.26 mm Stroke: 99.31 mm Displacement: 3984 cc Number of valves: 24 Barra 182 These were found in the BA Falcon and the SX Territory and were produced between 2002 to 2005. Power is 182 kW @ 5000 rpm Torque is 380 Nm @ 3250 rpm Barra 240T This engine was produced for the BA Falcon XR6T between 2002 to 2005. It is similar to the Barra 182, except it has a slightly lower compression ratio, a single Garrett GT40 Turbocharger and an Intercooler . Power is 240 kW @ 5250 rpm Torque is 450 Nm @ 2000-4500 rpm Barra 190 This is the current engine found in the BF Falcon and SY Territory and has been in production since 2005. It is similar to the Barra 182 except the exhaust and intake valve timing act independently in the VCT system. However, the slight increase in power is also due to an increase in compression ratio. Power is 190 kW @ 5250 rpm Torque is 383 Nm @ 2500 rpm Barra 245T These are found in the BF Falcon XR6T and the Turbo Territory and have been in production since 2005. It is the same as the Barra 190 except it has a slightly lower compression ratio, a single Garrett GT40 turbocharger and an intercooler. Power is 245 kW @ 5250 rpm Torque is 480 Nm @ 2000-4500 rpm Barra 270T This is the most powerful I6 ever produced by Ford. Going by the officially stated specifications, it is possibly tied as the most powerful stock production I6 in the world (compared to the 360 HP M54 found in the 1400-unit limited production BMW E46 M3 CSL ), since the Japanese high-power turbocharged I6's are by historical convention typically given artificially low specifications on paper (usually no more than 280hp). Going by Empirical ly measured performance, the 4.0L 270T exceeds the ~320hp (239kW) output of most stock 2.6L RB26DETT and 3.0L 2JZ-GTE engines. It also has the highest torque of any Australian built engine. It is found in the BA and BF Falcon F6 Typhoon and Tornado and has been in production from 2004. The increase in power is from a Garrett GT3540 turbocharger. Power is 270 kW / 362 HP @ 5250 rpm Torque is 550 Nm @ 2000-4000 rpm V8 The Barra V8s are based on the Modular Engine , however they are assembled in Australia. All are of the 5.4 litre (330ci) variant with SOHC driving 3 valves per cylinder and feature VCT. The Falcon was the first vehicle in the Ford world to have the VCT Modular engine. There are higher performance V8s called the Boss 260 & 290 with DOHC and 4 valves per cylinder. Common specifications to V8s Bore: 90.2 mm Stroke: 105.8 mm Displacement: 5408 cc Number of valves: 24 Barra 220 This was an optional engine on the BA Falcon and produced between 2002 to 2005. Power is 220 kW @ 3250 rpm Torque is 470 Nm @ 4750 rpm Barra 230 Is an option on the BF Falcon. The extra power comes from a slight increase in compression ratio. This is done safely with the addition of another knock sensor. In production since 2005. Power is 230 kW @ 5350 rpm Torque is 500 Nm @ 3500 rpm SEE ALSO EXTERNAL LINKS |
