Family Business is a season 2 episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog, featuring Basil the Burglar, a memorable Courage character.


PLOT


The Bagges are being burgled by a criminal named Basil, but he is obviously mentally ill as he keeps switching personalities, sometimes treating Eustace, Muriel and Courage as family, other times as a rough-talking criminal. In his family persona, he takes the Bagges to rob Mount Rushmore, where they are attacked by the police. Muriel and Courage, who have grown fond of Basil, rescue him, but persuade him to abandon his life of crime. Basil then becomes an eel-masseusse. The Bagges continue living on Mount Rushmore.


TRIVIA


  • This is Basil's main appearance. He is often chosen to represent a burglar. This is the only time he speaks.


  • The squirrel that attacks Eustace is very similar to the Weremole. The same music accompanies it.


  • Throughout the episode, Basil refers to Eustace, Muriel and Courage as "Uncle Twinkletoes", "Mama Mashed Potatoes " and "Nigel", respectively.
