Shinn studied industrial design at the Spring Garden School in Philadelphia from 1888 to 1890. In 1893, he began his professional career as an illustrator for the Philadelphia Press . His illustrations were later published in national magazines such as McClure's , Hearst's International , and The Century . He painted several murals, including one for the Trenton, New Jersey City Hall. Shinn's work is displayed in the collections of many museums including the Metropolitan Museum Of Art and the Whitney Museum Of American Art . EXTERNAL LINKS
