HISTORY The Educational Primer features heavily in Neal Stephenson's book "'' The Diamond Age ''". The book replaces all forms of adult guidance and schooling in guiding a child's development. The primer will adapt to both the child's surroundings and state of mind to provide as best as possible development for the child's mind. The primer is a Hybrid Computer and ractive (short for ' Interactive ') experience. The reactive dialogue appears to be created by the primer and only read by an Online , connected Actor . This was selected as a solution to a computer being unable to convincingly Simulate a real person in its Dialogue s with the child. IMPACT The primer eventually propels Nell, a highly Disadvantaged child, into the Elite of the future Society and may represent a belief by Stephenson that a high quality of Education is able to overcome societal disadvantage. |
