The fifth of the Rochdale Principles states that Co-operative Societies must provide education and training to their members and the public. According to the International Co-operative Alliance 's Statement On The Co-operative Identity , "Co-operatives provide education and training for their members, elected representatives, managers, and employees so they can contribute effectively to the development of their co-operatives.
