Information About

Dupont Aerospace Dp-2

The DuPont Aerospace DP-2 is a controversial VTOL aircraft that is supposed to take off and land like a Helicopter and fly like an Airplane .

It has come under attack as a waste of taxpayer money, because the Pentagon does not want it.

The US Army does not want it to replace their helicopters, because it cannot Autogyrate down safely. The VTOL, as currently designed, does not allow troops to rappel from the craft, as they would be burned by hot exhaust gases.

On June 13th 2007, A US House Committee will hold hearing about the fate of this aircraft.

In August 2007 Congress cut off funding for the DP-2 after spending $63 million dollars over two decades.
