It is often described as a Criminologist 's answer to the Diagnostic And Statistical Manual . The book, authored by John E. Douglas , Ann W. Burgess, Allen G. Burgess and Robert K. Ressler has since its release in 1992 become an authoritative text in classifying Violent Crime s. In 1994 the book was awarded the International Association Of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts ' award for "the most significant contribution to the literature of Law Enforcement intelligence".
