This is the 18th episode of television drama '' Men In Trees ''. It originally aired on June 25 , 2007 on the TV2 network in New Zealand as a continuation of season 1. RECAP Marin and Cash have a stew cook off, she admits his is better than hers. Jack's shooting a video about otters mating. Buzz shares photos and memories with Patrick. Patrick admits to Annie he doesn't really know who he is anymore. Sara's ex husband comes to the bar to tell her he's got a good job, is married and his life is back in order...and wants to see his son Matty. There's going to be a hearing over custody of Matty in two days' time. Her ex also knows she was a working girl. Patrick and Annie have decided to get married in Elmo. Patrick asks his mother about his surname, he's confused why it's Bachelor. - her maiden name was "Hisbut", she thinks he should be thankful she stuck with Bachelor. Jack and Marin meet in the woods as he's about to film the otters. Marin assures Jack she'll be fine alone in the woods. After some time, Marin wanders back to the same point, obviously lost. Jack invites her to have lunch with him. He draws her a map in the dirt for how to get back. Marin asks if he's set a date for the wedding - he says sometime after the baby is born. Marin picks up a poisonous plant thinking it's wild garlic for a recipe, Jack has to rub some medicine into her hand. In the middle of the night, Marin and Jack spot the otters. Early in the morning the otters start to mate. Marin and Jack's hands meet briefly as they both grab the binoculars. Patrick decides to change his surname, upsetting his mother. At the hearing, Celia lies about Sara's working girl past and gives her a good character reference. The court denies Sara's ex custody. Leaving court, her ex says how much he misses Matty and asks her to reconsider. Later Sara thanks Celia. Jack drops Marin back in his car, she thinks he's a relationship coach for animals just like she is for people. He says animals are easier. Patrick's new surname is: "O'Bachelorton" combining everyone's names and everyone is proud of him. Lynn's not impressed that Jack stayed up all night with Marin - and how happy he came home. She doesn't think he loves her any more, "how do I know if you don't say it, ever. You used to say it and now..you didn't even say it when you proposed. So you can't even say it now.." Jack says "I love you" but she replies "Yeah that's how I want to hear it." Celia upsets Richard by lying in court but they end up admitting they love each other. Marin impresses Cash with her new stew with her "secret" ingredient. Jack tells Lynn he can't do this any more - he can support Lynn and the baby but can't marry her. Lynn can't marry someone who doesn't love her - she hoped it would change but it hasn't. They admit they lost their spark along the way. Sara gives Matty to her ex Jeff for two weeks. When he asks her what changed, she replies: "he's part of you too Jeff". The show ends with Marin talking about chemistry, each relationship being an experiment, you don't know what you're going to get, some people surprise you, sometimes you get more not less and sometimes what you have had gone forever and although it's painful you have to keep searching for love, for that one perfect ingredient no matter how far or deep you have to go to find it. |
