In 2001-3 it had 2,594 students, and 122 teachers. Ethnically the students were 78% white, 16% Hispanic, 3% Native American, 2% Asian, and 1% African-American. 15% were eligible for free lunch, compared to a state average of 36%. However, as of 2005 the Hispanic percent had increased by nearly 15%, while the white percentage had fell to about 63%. The other groups had no significant change. Carson High School's rival is Douglas High school. The Senators compete in the Sierra League of the Northern Nevada 4A Region . DEPARTMENTS
STAFF The current principal of Carson High School is Fred Perdomo. The vice principals are Patrick Houlihan and Carl Henry. MASCOT Carson High School's mascot is the Senator , indicative of Carson City being the capital of Nevada . Currently the mascot is seen to have one side of his mouth open, without a cigar. This is because the Senator previously had a cigar in his mouth, however the cigar has been removed, per the anti-smoking movement, which has led to a perpetual scowl on the face of the Senator.
