Burton Agnes Hall is a Manor House , originally built in 1173 on an adjacent site; both buildings are now Grade I Listed Building s. The Hall contains a number of fine seventeenth century Plaster ceilings and Chimneypieces . The ceiling of the Long Gallerey was restored in two stages by Francis Johnson in 1951 and 1974. Today, the estate is managed by Hon Elizabeth Susan Whitelaw, daughter of the 1st Viscount Whitelaw and her son Simon. A GWR 6959 Class railway engine was named Burton Agnes Hall.
