'Approved inspectors' must be appointed by an organisation designated by the Secretary Of State as having the authority to control Building Work . This typically means a Local Authority or an organisation such as the NHBC . The main function of a Building Inspector is to examine Plans , specifications and other documents submitted for approval, to monitor certain stages of the physical building work, and to verify compliance with the Building Regulations.
