Internet in Austria is typically received over ADSL , Cable and Radio Wave s. SDSL and Mobile Phone access is also available.

AZERBAIJAN



BELARUS

Belarus has state monopoly Beltelecom for Internet access that is owner of all backbone channels. No other enterprises can legally sale and purchase channels except from Beltelecom .

Until 2005-2006 broadband access (mostly ADSL from Beltelecom or other providers) was available only in large cities of Belarus . Outside this area the only options was Dial-up from Beltelecom or GPRS / Cdma2000 from mobile operators.

Trademark Byfly was introduced by Beltelecom in 2006 for ADSL access. The following channels with "not guaranteed channel bandwidth" for end users are proposed:

  • 1024/512 kbit/s - ~$984

  • 512/128 kbit/s - ~$409

  • 256/128 kbit/s - ~$245


Channel cost for providers with "guaranteed channel bandwidth" is about twice greater than mentioned above.

CYPRUS

In Cyprus ADSL is the most widespread broadband technology with multiple providers offering packages that range from 256Kbps to 4Mbps.

Cable broadband is also available in a few urban locations with speeds up to 10Mbps.

ADSL services were introduced into Gibraltar in 2002. Gib Telecom and Sapphire Networks offer ADSL services to business and residential clients. Prices are dear. In July 2007, a 2Mbit ADSL connection cost 99 GBP a month from either Sapphire Networks or Gib Telecom.


GREECE

ADSL appeared commercially in Greece in 2003, and is currently the only broadband standard that exists in the country except for the very expensive Satellite Internet .


HUNGARY

ADSL appeared in Hungary in 2001, and ADSL2+ in late 2005.

The main broadband internet providers are: T-Com / T-Online (formerly Matáv ), Chello ( UPC ), Invitel , Externet , Emitel , Monortel , Pantel , TVnet , TvNetWork . Smaller providers mainly available in the city of Budapest, like TigerNet or HDSnet .

The number of the subscribers in Hungary has reached 1 million in January 2007.



ICELAND

ADSL in Iceland is ADSL2+ (since mid 2005) in the capital and well populated areas and ADSL in other places.

LATVIA

ADSL services in Latvia are provided by Lattelecom , it's services are very popular. Mājas DSL , is a service for home users. It's speed is 5120/512 kbit/s and a ADSL2+ version with a speed of 10 Mbit/s. Both cost 11,80Ls (8,30€). An all-in-one deals Mājas Komplekts are also available featuring a phone line and free calls to other Lattelecom users and a 2084/512 kbit/s or a 5120/512 kbit/s ADSL line for a price of 13,90Ls (9,76€) and 16,90Ls (11,88€) accordingly.

ADSL became available in Montenegro in 2005. So far, the sole provider of ADSL sevices in Montenegro is Crnogorski Telekom . It is becoming increasingly popular option, for the prices are almost the same as if the Dial-up access is used.

Currently, five ADSL options are offered by ''Crnogorski Telekom'' {Link without Title} :

  • ADSL Student - 512/128 kbit/s, 5 GB per month traffic limit - €20 per month (students only)

  • ADSL Surf - 512/128 kbit/s, 2 GB per month traffic limit - €20 per month

  • ADSL M - 512/128 kbit/s, 10 GB per month traffic limit - €35 per month

  • ADSL L - 1024/256 kbit/s, 20 GB per month traffic limit - €50 per month

  • ADSL XL - 2048/512 kbit/s, 40 GB per month traffic limit - €100 per month

SLOVAKIA

Slovakia currently has only one full-area ISP that offers wired broadband internet connections. It is Slovak Telekom (known under the business brand T-Com), the major telecommunication company. It offers only ADSL / ADSL2+ connectivity. At least ADSL(1) is available in almost every town and bigger village in Slovakia, however, not in all of their parts. Information about aggregation or FUP limits is not available.

UNITED KINGDOM

ADSL was introduced to the UK in trial stages in the late 1990s and a commercial product was launched in 2000.
