Bathroom PODS (Preformed Offsite Design Systems) are single complete modular Bathroom Units built off-site in a manufacturing environment. The PODS are dropped or side-loaded into the buildings and then moved into their final resting place. They connect to the buildings water and electrical supplies via a riser duct with all water and electrical terminations for the POD. Mainly used in Hotels and Apartments, the PODS consist of steel or timber frames which are then internally lined with dry-lining. Once dry-lined, the PODS are then Tiled and Painted. From here, the ware and fixtures are fitted before electrical and plumb tests are completed. They are then Quality checked and bagged in weather proof bags before being shipped off to construction sites. The average turn-around for a POD is 3-4 Days, substantially shorter than the on-site equivalent. PODS provide a quality finish that is unobtainable on-site as well as removing over 20 direct and in-direct steps from the construction process. With more and more Construction companies and Developers requesting PODS for their projects, PODS are the way into the future. The European leader in the POD market, Preformed Offsite Design Systems Limited (PODS Limited) , who currently manufacture all of their PODS in Cork, Ireland, use a ThinFloor technology in all of their PODS. The ThinFloor is a 6mm steel plate with tiles giving a total thickness of only 15mm. This allows clients to level the POD into the building without excess screeding commonly found with other POD Manufactures whose floors are in excess of 100mm. In addition to Bathroom PODS, most of the POD manufacturers also manufacture Kitchen PODS which also give the client the same cost-effectiveness and quality. |
