The district is named after local Lake Baringo . It is an area of Geothermal activity. Human Fossil s have also been found there. Former Kenya president Daniel Arap Moi lives in Baringo District. Some of Kenya's famous runners come from the district, most notably Paul Tergat . DISTRICT SUBDIVISIONS The district has three constituencies: Baringo Central, Baringo East and Baringo North.
