The Bailey colleges are usually thought of as being the more traditional colleges and all of them require the wearing of gowns at either Matriculation , JCR meetings or Formal meals, except at the "traditionally informal" St Cuthbert's Society. There is a general rivalry between the Hill College s and the Bailey colleges which culminates in the "Hill Versus Bailey" rugby match, which groups the College Of St Hild And St Bede within the Bailey colleges and Queen's Campus colleges with the Hill, although neither are generally considered to be part of the groupings.
