Aviation High School, located in the Highline School District , in Seattle, Washington , is an Aviation and Aerospace theme school and one of the Highline School District's small schools. It has a large focus on college preparatory studies. The school is opened currently to students going into the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades that live in the Pudget Sound. It has a mentor program and connections to businesses, local government, and colleges. It is housed by South Seattle Community College. Currently there are only about three hundred students. ADMISSION Admission is based on grades, 7th grade WASL scores, interest in the theme of aviation, student behavior and family. Each applicant is interviewed for 30 minutes, and must complete a 12 page application where they demonstrate their writing abilities. Parents of the students have to volunteer for 10 hours per semester. Only 100 students are accepted yearly. In many ways the process is like that of a private institution, except there is no cost. PLANNING OF THE SCHOOL LOCATION Currently, Aviation High School is located on the Olympic Interim Site, the previous (temporary) location of Mount Rainier High School . It was confirmed in January 2007 that the school would be moving there. After approximately three years, Aviation High School will move into a new site at the Museum Of Flight .
