The mall was originally built in 1971 and has since undergone major renovation. The mall was originally anchored by two stores: Denholm's and Sears . Denholm's was converted to Forbes & Wallace , and later to The Outlet, a Providence, Rhode Island -based department store chain. The Outlet's store closed in the 1980s and was replaced with Caldor . Filene's was added as a third anchor in 1997. Caldor closed in 1999 and was converted to a Filene's home store. In 2006, the two Filene's stores in the mall were both converted to Macy's. As of early 2007, the mall claimed approximately 75 stores, Quick Service Restaurants and kiosks. {Link without Title} ANCHOR STORES
