GEOGRAPHY The district's boundaries are Crenshaw Boulevard on the west, the I-10 Freeway on the south, Western Avenue on the east, and Pico Boulevard on the north. It is bordered by Country Club Park and Koreatown on the north, Harvard Heights on the east, Jefferson Park on the south, and Mid-City on the west. The principal thoroughfares through the district are Venice Boulevard and Arlington Avenue. THE NEIGHBORHOOD One of the older districts in Mid-Wilshire, Arlington Heights was until recently a predominantly upper-middle-class, African-American area. Today, like neighboring Jefferson Park and West Adams , it has become largely Latino , as many African-Americans have emigrated into suburban communities in the Antelope Valley , and San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Nevertheless, Arlington Heights still has a sizeable African American population. |
