Information About

Arctic Roll

An Arctic roll is a British Dessert made of vanilla Ice Cream wrapped in a thin layer of Sponge Cake to form a roll, often with Jam between the sponge and the ice cream. It was commonly served in school and as a typical summer pudding in the 1970's and 1980's. These days it is generally found in frozen food supermarkets like Iceland. Americans do not generally know this phrase, but it is sometimes called ''' Icebox Cake ''' in the United States, and the ice cream may be replaced by Whipped Cream . The name comes from that of another dessert, the Swiss Roll (known in the United States as jelly roll.) '''Arctic Log''' refers to the same dessert dipped in Chocolate .
