Application Model

An application is a consumer's view on system capability provided by a software vendor as a deployed set of Components . The functionality offered by an application can be described narratively and visually as well as specified rigorously using a Programming Language .

The TeleManagement Forum (TMF) NGOSS program is creating a Telecom Applications Map (TAM) model that describes and categorizes BSS and OSS applications typical used by Service Provider s to manage Communications Networks and infrastructure.

Presently, the TAM is a set of descriptions of categories of application capability organized using the TMF NGOSS domains - Market/Sales, Product, Customer, Service, Resource, Supplier/Partner, Enterprise and Integration Infrastructure.

With the increasing use of the Service-Oriented Architecture ( SOA ) the TMF NGOSS TAM may become a useful framework for organizing and categorizing Web Services that specify accessibility to offered application/component capability.
