SHOW FORMAT

The average episode of Anime World Order ranges from 100 to 120 minutes in length and contains six separate segments, each of varying duration.

  • Introduction - Following a pre-recorded warning for explicit content, an optional bumper endorsement, and the opening theme song, the introduction segment consists of an overview of the hosts, a brief rundown of that week's content, and contact information details. It is primarily dedicated to responding to listener feedback.

  • Let's News! - Discussion and commentary pertaining to recent news items in the world of the Japanese animation industry.

  • Reviews - Each episode generally contains three reviews, each of a specific work. Unless otherwise specified, these reviews pertain to the series in its entirety, rather than the first few episodes or chapters. As of September 5, 2007 approximately 140 separate titles have been reviewed.1

  • Closing - Contact information for leaving feedback is repeated, and the hosts offer a preview of what's to come in the following episode.

Episodes which stray from this set format, usually to speak at length about a given subject or interview a guest, are generally labeled as "bonus" content.

CONTENT

Anime World Order covers a wide array of Anime and Manga releases. They have chosen to focus their efforts on older, more obscure works while covering more recent shows and releases. They do not, however, cover the more popular works such as Bleach or Naruto as they feel these are already covered by other podcasts. They, instead, cover works ranging from Yoshihiro Tatsumi's Abandon The Old In Tokyo and Hayao Miyazaki's Animal Treasure Island from the 50's and 60's to recently aired series and currently running manga such as Naoki Urusawa's Pluto and The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya . Unlike many other podcasts they will also review adult material including pornographic works such as Legend Of The Overfiend by Toshio Maeda and Pink Sniper by Kengo Yonekura .

HOSTS

  • Daryl Surat - a regular writer for Otaku USA magazine 's printed anime reviews and features, he has also made freelance contributions to the print publication Anime Insider .

  • Gerald Rathkolb - is a sporadic contributor to Otaku USA magazine and is the host of Let's News!, specializing in industry-related commentary.

  • Clarissa - also a regular contributor to the anime reviews and features section of the print version of Otaku USA magazine . Many, but not all, of her reviews relate to the Sh%C5%8Djo , Boy%27s Love , and Yaoi genres that are geared specifically towards females.
