Albion is an inner north-eastern Suburb of Brisbane , Queensland , Australia , adjoining Hamilton . As of the 2001 Census , there were 2,207 people living in the suburb.


GEOGRAPHY

Albion is bounded by Lutwyche to the northwest, Wooloowin and Clayfield to the north, Ascot and Hamilton on the east, Bowen Hills to the south, and Windsor to the west. Sandgate Road runs through the middle of the suburb. A variety of housing styles, from former workers' cottages through to modern brick homes and unit blocks, can be found in Albion.

The Albion Park Paceway , first established in the 1880s, is a Harness Racing club and Greyhound Racing track found in Breakfast Creek, a locality in southern Albion.


DEMOGRAPHICS

As of the 2001 census, Albion had a population of 2,207 persons.. See also . Approximately 5% of the population are of Italian descent, while the great majority are Australian-born of British descent. In wealth terms, the population is split between the middle-income section adjoining Windsor and Lutwyche west of the Doomben Railway Line , and the more affluent section adjoining Hamilton east of the line.


TRANSPORT

On the QR CityTrain network, the suburb is serviced by Albion Train Station on the Doomben Line . Historically, Albion lay on the Clayfield Tram line, which was operated by the Brisbane City Council until 13 April 1969 . Trams ran along Sandgate Road.
