Aircraft boneyard is an American term for a storage area for aircraft that are retired from years of service or lack thereof. Most aircraft at boneyards are either kept for storage or turned into scrap metal. Common locations include the deserts of the Southwestern United States . While some are privately owned and operated, others belong to the US Air Force and other divisions of the military such as the Aerospace Maintenance And Regeneration Center at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona .
