Woodland Township is a Township in Burlington County , New Jersey , United States . As of the United States 2000 Census , the township population was 1,170. Woodland was incorporated as a township by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 7 , 1866 , from portions of Pemberton Township , Shamong Township , Southampton Township and Washington Township . Portions of the township were taken to form Tabernacle Township on March 22 , 1901 ."The Story of New Jersey's Civil Boundaries: 1606-1968", John P. Snyder, Bureau of Geology and Topography; Trenton, New Jersey; 1969. p. 100. The township is located in the Pinelands National Reserve , north of the Wharton State Forest . It includes the Unincorporated Community of Chatsworth , which is the postal address for most of the residents of the township. GEOGRAPHY According to the United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 249.6 Km&2 (96.4 Mi&2 ). 248.5 km&2 (95.9 mi&2) of it is land and 1.2 km&2 (0.4 mi&2) of it (0.47%) is water. Woodland Township borders Pemberton Township , Southampton Township , Tabernacle Township , Washington Township , Bass River Township , and Ocean County . DEMOGRAPHICS
As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 1,170 people, 425 households, and 323 families residing in the township. The Population Density was 4.7/km&2 (12.2/mi&2). There were 448 housing units at an average density of 1.8/km&2 (4.7/mi&2). The racial makeup of the township was 98.03% White , 0.60% African American , 0.09% Native American , 0.34% Asian , 0.17% from Other Races , and 0.77% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.20% of the population. There were 425 households out of which 35.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.5% were Married Couples living together, 8.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.0% were non-families. 19.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.15. In the township the population was spread out with 25.8% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 27.9% from 45 to 64, and 7.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 99.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.9 males. The median income for a household in the township was $59,271, and the median income for a family was $65,972. Males had a median income of $43,654 versus $31,765 for females. The Per Capita Income for the township was $26,126. About 2.0% of families and 2.9% of the population were below the Poverty Line , including 2.9% of those under age 18 and 4.0% of those age 65 or over. High school students in Woodland Township attend Seneca High School located in Tabernacle Township, which is part of the Lenape Regional High School District , a regional High School district which serves the eight municipalities of Evesham Township (2,432 students), Medford Lakes (215 students), Medford Township (1,229 students), Mount Laurel Township (1,868 students), Shamong Township (447 students), Southampton Township (437 students), Tabernacle Township (500 students) and Woodland Township (64 students).
