Wolfson College is one of the constituent colleges of the University Of Cambridge in Cambridge . Wolfson College was founded in 1965 as the “University College”, but changed its name to Wolfson College in 1972 in recognition of the generous benefaction of the Wolfson Foundation .

Wolfson College should not be confused with Wolfson Court, an annexe of Girton College , located towards the opposite end of Grange Road in western Cambridge.

Wolfson was the first Cambridge college to be established for both men and women and it was to be for graduate students with a focus on research and scholarship. Because of its youth, Wolfson is the ninth-poorest college, with assets of £47 million. {Link without Title}

The College is one of Cambridge’s most cosmopolitan and friendly colleges, boasting students from over 70 countries. The College also admits a limited number of mature students wishing to study for a first degree.

Wolfson promotes a healthy egalitarian environment while at the same time respecting and maintaining tradition, which is reflected in Formal Hall , where there is no high table and fellows and students, while wearing gowns, all dine together.

Wolfson’s architectural design also fosters much of the camaraderie within the college. The popular “club room” at the centre of the College grounds provides a lively communal atmosphere for students. The club room, which includes the College bar and a convertible dance floor space, is also home to Wolfson’s famous weekly Salsa Dance class.

Wolfson College Boat Club (http://www.wolfson.cam.ac.uk/boatclub/) is the most popular club at College and is arguably the strongest graduate rowing college in Cambridge.

The current president of Wolfson College is Gordon Johnson .
