State Trunk Highway 19 (often called '''Highway 19''', '''STH 19''' or '''WIS 19''') is a State Highway in the U.S. State of Wisconsin . It essentially provides a route from U.S. Highway 14 near Mazomanie east to Highway 16 at Watertown , passing around the north side of Madison . MUNICIPALITIES Highway 19 travels through Dane , Jefferson and Dodge Counties in Wisconsin. Highway 19 serves the following towns, villages and cities: HISTORY Highway 19 previously ended in Milwaukee, but was truncated to end in Watertown in 1947. From Sun Prairie, Highway 19 followed Washington Ave and what is now US 18 through Madison before the commissioning of the US Highways. CURRENT STATUS Highway 19 is a 2-lane road for nearly all of its length. Part of it, roughly from Interstate 39 / 90 / 94 west to Highway 113 , had at one time been on the corridor of a planned beltine route around the north side of Madison.
