GEOGRAPHY

Westville is located at (39.868013, -75.127564).

According to the United States Census Bureau , the borough has a total area of 3.5 Km&2 (1.4 Mi&2 ). 2.5 km&2 (1.0 mi&2) of it is land and 1.0 km&2 (0.4 mi&2) of it (28.68%) is water.

Westville borders Deptford Township , West Deptford Township , and Camden County .

As of the Census of 2000, there were 4,500 people, 1,812 households, and 1,125 families residing in the borough. The Population Density was 1,809.9/km&2 (4,666.1/mi&2). There were 1,938 housing units at an average density of 779.4/km&2 (2,009.5/mi&2). The racial makeup of the borough was 93.47% White , 2.71% African American , 0.13% Native American , 1.00% Asian , 0.02% Pacific Islander , 1.29% from Other Races , and 1.38% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.96% of the population.

There were 1,812 households out of which 29.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.4% were Married Couples living together, 12.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.9% were non-families. 31.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.15.

In the borough the population was spread out with 24.5% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 32.0% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.4 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $39,570, and the median income for a family was $49,005. Males had a median income of $35,909 versus $27,220 for females. The Per Capita Income for the borough was $18,747. About 7.4% of families and 8.7% of the population were below the Poverty Line , including 13.9% of those under age 18 and 5.9% of those age 65 or over.

EDUCATION

Parkview Elementary School, home of the Panthers, is the neighborhood school for approximately 370 students enrolled in Preschool through Sixth grade.

For seventh through twelfth grade, students attend Gateway Regional High School , a regional public high school serving students from the boroughs of National Park , Wenonah , Westville and Woodbury Heights , as part of the Gateway Regional School District.
