Information About

Vic Firth

Vic Firth is the world's oldest Drum Stick manufacturing company. The company was founded in 1963 by Everett "Vic" Firth , then the timpanist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra . Firth started making prototype drum sticks by hand, eventually selling them to local students.

The company offers the standard sizes of drum sticks; (7A, 5A, 5B, 2B and Rock) as well as a variety of more creative "in-between" sizes. They manufacture many different lines of sticks, such as "American Classic", "American Classic Nylon", "American Custom", etc.

Besides drumsticks, the company also makes a variety of mallets (timpani mallets, marimba mallets, orchestral percussion mallets, bass drum mallets, etc.). The designs for the sticks and mallets are inspired by Firth's experience in the business, colleagues and percussion mates, and noted players in the industry.

The company also manufactures practice pads, silence mutes, stick bags, and even Lathe Turned kitchen tools, such as pepper mills and rolling pins.
