While some critics, especially in the Gangsta Rap community, disliked the song, enough people approved of it to secure the Grammys for Best R&B Song and Best Rap Solo Performance , a brand new category at the time, for MC Hammer. The song also did well on the charts, peaking at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topping the chart in Australia. It also reached #3 on the UK Singles Chart .
