Tony Ashton ( 1 March 1946 , Blackburn , Lancashire - May 28 2001 ) was a British Rock Musician who played in The Remo Four , Family as well as in Paice, Ashton And Lord with Deep Purple alumni Ian Paice and Jon Lord . Born Edward Anthony Ashton, he was an accomplished Keyboardist , who first gained recognition in the United Kingdom in 1971 as a member of Ashton, Gardner And Dyke , when that Trio 's Single "Resurrection Shuffle" reached number three on the UK Singles Chart . In the early 80s, Ashton was a member of the Terry Smith Blues Band, with Micky Waller (drums) and Jo Ann Kelly (vocals). Ashton died of Cancer in 2001 at the age of 55. EXTERNAL LINK |
