The Fratellis are an Award-winning Scottish Indie Rock band.

HISTORY

They played their first show on March 4 , 2005 in the O'Henry's bar in Glasgow, and received their first radio play in 2005 on central Scotland's Beat 106 (now XFM Scotland ) Beatscene show hosted by Jim Gellatly. They were discovered by their manager Tony Fratelli in McChuills Bar, Glasgow and were then signed by Fallout Records after just 9 gigs.

The Fratellis EP was released April 3 , 2006 , featuring the tracks "Creepin' Up The Backstairs", "Stacie Anne" and "The Gutterati?". Their first album, '' Costello Music '', was released on September 11 , 2006 and charted at number two in the official UK album charts for three weeks.

The '' NME '' ran a two page feature on The Fratellis in the August 10 , 2006 issue, proclaiming them "the best new band in Britain". On 14 February 2007 they won the Best British Breakthrough Act, voted for by Radio One listeners, at the 2007 BRIT Awards

Following on from the success of the album, The Fratellis played a number of festivals in the Summer of 2007, including Glastonbury and mainstage performances at T In The Park and OXEGEN .

The Fratellis have said in many interviews that they got their name from the family of bad guys in the 1985 movie '' The Goonies ''. This is also mentioned as a source of the band's name by Real Network's Rhapsody music service.


MUSIC APPEARS ON

  • The Fratellis song "Flathead" is featured on Apple's January 2007 IPod TV advertisement which was featured at Macworld 2007.


  • In January 2007 Safeway used the introductory portion of "Chelsea Dagger" for an animated ad campaign.


  • The Fratellis contributed a specially made track, a cover of Solid Gold Easy Action by T. Rex , and " Baby Fratelli " for the film '' Hot Fuzz ''.


  • The single "Chelsea Dagger" was included in the soundtrack to the EA Games racing title Burnout Dominator as part of the EA Trax program.



  • Barry Fratelli is a die-hard supporter of Celtic F.C. , and the singalong section of "Chelsea Dagger" has since been played over the PA system at Celtic Park when Celtic score.



  • "Chelsea Dagger" is extensively played when teams from the EIHL (Britain's Ice Hockey League) score a goal. Fans have adapted and a special dance is performed by many.



  • A Music Video for "Chelsea Dagger" has been released on their website.


  • The Fratellis have recently covered Bob Dylan's song "All Along The Watchtower" for BBC's 40th

  • Anniversary.


  • "Chelsea Dagger" can also be heard over the PA system at Stamford Bridge when fans of the Blues can be heard singing along.



  • "Chelsea Dagger" is used over the PA system at [[The Riverside when a home goal is scored for Premier League Team team Middlesbrough FC
