Information About

Taste Of Chaos

Taste of Chaos is a Post-hardcore tour that was started in the winter of 2004 by Kevin Lyman , the creator of the successful Warped Tour . The Taste of Chaos tour was designed to bring in bands outside the usual punk, emo and metal format that the Warped Tour usually caters to. In 2007, each of the seven bands playing the entire tour was a Warped Tour veteran; five had played the 2006 Warped Tour and two (The Used and Saosin) had played previously.

Taste of Chaos serves fans of alternative music as the "Winter Warped Tour" since dates run from October through April of the next year. The headlining bands in 2005 were The Used , My Chemical Romance , and Killswitch Engage . During the tour Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance left due to family illness and Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage left due to an illness; Frank was replaced for the remainder of the tour and Killswitch Engage trekked on as a 4-piece. Just after Sophomore finished their final date of their stint on the tour (St. Louis), they wrecked the tour van.

The tour was highly successful in 2005 for many of the same reasons as its summer counterpart, including cheap tickets and major bands of the genres. In the fall of 2005, the tour became international with The Used , Story Of The Year , and Rise Against playing in Australia, Europe, and Asia. The 2006 lineup included Deftones and Thrice headlining.
Just prior to the Canadian switch, Funeral For A Friend dropped the tour and The Receiving End Of Sirens was replaced by Dredg . When the tour reached Canada, Thursday took over for Story Of The Year , and Silverstein joined the tour.
Thursday singer Geoff Rickly became very ill just a couple days into their stint on tour and could not sing anymore, forcing the band to drop out of the remaining dates. The band Broke took over for The Confession about this time as well.

In 2007 the RTOC bands were: The Used , 30 Seconds To Mars , Senses Fail , Saosin , Chiodos , Aiden , and Evaline . Also playing were the Ernie Ball Battle of The Bands Winners.

FORMAT

The Taste of Chaos tour has often been called a "winter Warped Tour" of sorts. A typical Taste of Chaos show begins with the local Ernie Ball "Battle of the Bands" winner play a 25- 35 minute set. Following the opening set, the tour's supporting bands play consecutive 30-35 minute sets, with minimal time between sets for the next band to set up. For the 2007 tour, a rotating stage was introduced to speed up the process, eliminating the need for multiple stages. The headliners of the tour are then allotted a time slot of about 45-60 minutes for their respective sets.

Numerous sponsors are allowed the opportunity to market their respective products in the lobby of each venue. For the 2007, the usual Taste of Chaos booth that sold tour exclusive T-Shirts was joined by smaller booths that often featured a table for merchandise from the Ernie Ball "Battle of the Bands" winner, independent clothing companies, and even featured a Guitar Hero II booth that allowed people to compete against other concert-goers in the newly released game.
