"Somebody to Love" is a well-known Rock song by 1960s folk-psychedelic band The Great Society . Released in 1966 as a single on the North Beach subsidiary of Autumn Records , it received minimal circulation outside of San Francisco .

Later also recorded and issued as a single by Jefferson Airplane , their release met with far greater success, peaking at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 , and also appearing as a track on their influential album released in February of 1967 , '' Surrealistic Pillow ''. '' Rolling Stone '' ranked Jefferson Airplane's recording #274 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time .
