Information About

Scottish National Antarctic Expedition

The Scottish National Antarctic Expedition (1902–1904), was a two year exploration of the Weddell Sea. On the ship ''Scotia'', and led by William Speirs Bruce , the expedition established Omond House , a meteorological observatory on Laurie Island in the South Orkneys . A year later, ownership was passed to Argentina and it was renamed to Orcadas Base . It's the continent's oldest permanent base.
