ADMINISTRATION & STRUCTURE The Scotland Rugby League have announced that their domestic competition will have a new look, aims and objectives for the 2006 summer season. Six sides - Paisley Hurricanes , Moray Eels from Lossiemouth , Fife Lions , Edinburgh Eagles , Glasgow Bulls and Easterhouse Panthers – will kick off on 6th May; the top four taking part in play offs with a Grand Final scheduled for 29th July. For the first time, the competition will come under the organisational umbrella of the TotalRL.Com Rugby League Conference , the nationwide competition encompassing England and Wales , which begins its ninth summer campaign in late April. The RLC will provide administrative and promotional support for the Scots during 2006 with a view to the Tartan division becoming an integral part of the burgeoning competition the following year. Mark Senter, Rugby League Development Officer for Scotland , welcomed the move. “The idea this season is to run the Scottish domestic league as a pilot for becoming a full division of the RLC” he said. “If that trial is successful it will subsequently see us sending our title winners into their play offs.” “It is a very important move for the game up here because it makes the competition more meaningful for the players and brings in minimum standards on and off the field.” “There is growing interest in the sport up here, we fielded an application from a seventh side for this year and will be looking for a division of eight when ideally we formally join the Conference next season.” SCOTTISH RUGBY LEAGUE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS SCOTTISH RUGBY LEAGUE CONFERENCE 2007 FIXTURES & RESULTS Round 1 - 12 May, 2007 Easterhouse Panthers 43 l Paisley Hurricanes 26 Edinburgh Eagles 50 l Moray Eels 12 Glasgow Bulls 0 l Fife Lions 24 Round 2 - 19 May, 2007 Fife Lions 16 l Edinburgh Eagles 8 Moray Eels 24 l Easterhouse Panthers 0 Paisley Hurricanes 24 l Glasgow Bulls 0 Round 3 - 26 May, 2007 Edinburgh Eagles 24 l Paisley Hurricanes 0 Fife Lions 96 l Moray Eels 6 Glasgow Bulls 0 l Easterhouse Panthers 24 Round 4 - 2 June, 2007 Easterhouse Panthers 18 l Edinburgh Eagles 42 Moray Eels 24 l Glasgow Bulls 0 Paisley Hurricanes 18 l Fife Lions 82 Round 5 - 9 June, 2007 Edinburgh Eagles 36 l Glasgow Bulls 28 Fife Lions 74 l Easterhouse Panthers 12 Paisley Hurricanes 36 l Moray Eels 18 Round 6 - 16 June, 2007 Fife Lions 24 l Glasgow Bulls 0 Moray Eels 48 l Edinburgh Eagles 36 Paisley Hurricanes 42 l Easterhouse Panthers 20 Round 7 - 23 June, 2007 Easterhouse Panthers 30 l Moray Eels 34 Edinburgh Eagles 26 l Fife Lions 22 Glasgow Bulls 0 l Paisley Hurricanes 24 Round 8 - 30 June, 2007 Easterhouse Panthers 24 l Glasgow Bulls 0 Moray Eels 16 l Fife Lions 32 Paisley Hurricanes 18 l Edinburgh Eagles 44 Round 9 - 7 July, 2007 Edinburgh Eagles 20 l Easterhouse Panthers 16 Fife Lions 54 l Paisley Hurricanes 14 Glasgow Bulls 0 l Moray Eels 24 Round 10 - 14 July, 2007 Easterhouse Panthers 11 l Fife Lions 40 Glasgow Bulls 0 l Edinburgh Eagles 24 Moray Eels 0 l Paisley Hurricanes 24 Semi-Finals - 21 July, 2007 SF1: Paisley Hurricanes 24 l Moray Eels 0 - ''Moray Eels eliminated'' SF2: Fife Lions 34 l Edinburgh Eagles 8 - ''Fife Lions progress to Grand Final'' Preliminary Final - 28 July, 2007 PF: Edinburgh Eagles 50 l Paisley Hurricanes 8 - ''Edinburgh Eagles progress to Grand Final'' Grand Final - 4 August, 2007 GF: Fife Lions 6 l Edinburgh Eagles 30 - ''Edinburgh Eagles are champions and progress to RLC Regional play-offs'' SCOTTISH RUGBY LEAGUE CONFERENCE 2007 FINAL STANDINGS SEE ALSO EXTERNAL LINK |
