Samuel Storey

Storey was born in Whitburn, County Durham , the son of Robert Storey. From 1876-78 he was Mayor of Sunderland and again in 1880 before being elected as the town's Member Of Parliament (MP) in 1881. He held the post until 1895 and also held it briefly from January 1910 to December 1910 . In between tenures, he had been Chairman of Durham County Council from 1894-97 and 1898-1905.

His namesake grandson was Samuel Storey, Baron Buckton .
