Ron Jeremy (born '''Ron Jeremy Hyatt''' on March 12 , 1953 ) is an American Pornographic Actor currently residing in Long Island , New York . Nicknamed "The Hedgehog" for his "spherical Hirsuteness "2, he was ranked by '' AVN Magazine '' at #1 in their "100 Top Porn Stars of All Time" list.3 Jeremy has also made appearances in non-pornographic films with studios such as Troma Entertainment . He gained some notoriety for being capable of Autofellatio (with his first on-screen demonstration being ''Inside Seka''4) but he has since stated in a 2003 interview that all he can do these days is kiss the tip of his penis due to his weight gain.5 BIOGRAPHY Jeremy was born to an upper-middle class Jewish family6; his father Arnold was a Physicist and his mother a book Editor 7 who served in the O.S.S. during World War II as she spoke fluent German and French 8 He had a uncle who was a Gangster with ties to Bugsy Siegel .9 Jeremy has described himself growing up as "the middle child craving universal acceptance and approval" Ron Jeremy attended Cardozo High School in Bayside, Queens ; former CIA Director George Tenet and actor Reginald VelJohnson were classmates.1011 He earned bachelor's Degrees in Education and Theater and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Queens College, City University Of New York . PORNOGRAPHIC FILM CAREER Jeremy left the teaching profession (his self-described " Ace In The Hole ") to pursue an acting career in New York City, and says he learned what it was like to make no money as an actor who "starved Off-Broadway ".12 Jeremy posed for '' Playgirl '' after his then-girlfriend submitted his photo to the magazine, and subsequently moved into the adult film industry as a means to support himself. His first appearance in a porn film was in a film by Chuck Vincent called ''Snap'' (though later renamed ''COD'').13 He started using his first and middle name professionally in the adult industry, after his grandmother Rose was pestered by people calling her thinking they were contacting Ron. By way of comparison, John Holmes —the next highest-ranked male star on the AVN Top 50 porn stars—has only 384 acting credits listed on the IAFD. For a time, he was semi-blacklisted within the porn industry. One joke that made the rounds within the industry at that time was "the kinkier acts some actresses would not perform were bestiality, sado-masochism and sex with Jeremy". Jeremy had put on sizable weight and sports a large belly and unlike some of his pornographic male star counterparts, is totally out of shape. However, he has since been recognized for his contributions to the adult industry by being inducted into both the AVN and XRCO Hall Of Fame . In 2003, Jeremy appeared as himself in, and lent his name to, the comedy film ''''. Food Products Jeremy's love for food led him to release a line of condiments, the first of which was a 'hot sauce'. Television Jeremy appeared in the second season of '''' 17, where he finished 2nd to Traci Bingham on the season finale, which aired on March 25, 2007. Jeremy also appeared in a segment on Comedy Central's '' Chappelle's Show ''. He has also made appearances on Penn And Teller 's '' Bullshit! '' in episodes regarding Penis Enlargement and Circumcision . In 2005, he appeared on the UK reality TV show, '' The Farm ''. Jeremy is also part of a Running Gag on ESPN 's '' Jim Rome Is Burning '' and Premiere Radio Networks ' '' The Jim Rome Show ''. Rome, who normally despises the porn industry, has a newfound respect for Jeremy for recording a program bumper saying, "This is Ron Jeremy, head coach of the Miami Heat , and you're watching ''Jim Rome Is Burning''." The bumper is a reference to Jeremy's striking resemblance to former Miami Heat and current Orlando Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy .
