Rogue Pictures is a division of Focus Features , the specialty film division of Universal Studios , which is a division of NBC Universal . It mainly produces and distributes low-budget Action / Horror films. It is similar to The Weinstein Company 's Dimension Films (formerly a division of Disney -owned Miramax Films ) and Sony Pictures Entertainment 's Screen Gems . The company was launched in 1998 as a division of October Films and Polygram Filmed Entertainment . Later, it was relaunched in May 2004.
