Robert E. Scott (born 25 February , 1943 in India ) is Law Professor at Columbia Law School . Scott graduated from Oberlin College and received his law degree from William And Mary Law School where he was editor-in-chief of the William And Mary Law Review . (Scott met his wife, Elizabeth Scott, also a Columbia Law Professor, while at William & Mary.) Robert Scott is a revered and oft-cited scholar who teaches contracts, commercial transactions and bankruptcy. Scott has delivered numerous papers, published extensively in law journals and co-authored five books on contracts and commercial transactions. Professor Scott became a full-time professor at Columbia Law School , leaving his job as Dean of the University of Virginia Law School, after accepting appointment as the Alfred McCormack Professor of Law and Director of the Center on Contract and Economic Organization. For some time before accepting this position, Scott was a visiting professor at Columbia, most recently as Justin W. D'Atri Visiting Professor of Law, Business and Society from 2001-2006.
