Railion is a European (mainly German ) Railway cargo Carrier . The name was probably intended to be a play on the English words "rely on", though the attempt was only partially successful {Link without Title} . The present company is the result of the merger of DB Cargo AG with NS Cargo NV. It uses a different trading name in each country in which it operates, namely:
The Holding Company , Railion GmbH, is based in Mainz . 94% of the shares are held by DB AG, and the remaining 6% by NV Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Dutch Railways). The company owns and operates 2.776 locomotives and 96.550 wagons (2007). SEE ALSO EXTERNAL LINKS |
